save me

Never thought that I would grow so old of seeing the gold
Still I never want it to go
I would hold it up to my cold heart
Feel the way it used to start up

Take me back to the way that I was before
Hungry for what was to come
Now I'm longing for the way i was

Remember everywhere that you think is in this place. Take that place if you find a place to take.Take away the way you want to talk away. Make a way with my mind, my mind it's away. Wake me up for a moment from the paradise. Lift me off the ground and take me to the garden of paradise.

I have a vision.

I have a vision to one day open up a space where this blog can become a reality. I want it to be a space where people can come explore the arts, and become an artist themselves.

I personally feel that the art community can be a little intimidating for those who are strangers to it. I know I was years ago when I had no idea I was going to be an artist for the rest of my life. I was terrified of going into galleries or picking up a paint brush let alone putting paint on a canvas. I find there are a lot of areas in the arts community that can come across as stuck up or a little rigid. People are intimidating. People with an incredible talent are more so. I think we all have a little artist inside of us but a lot of us just think we aren't "good enough". I am lucky enough to attend one of the best art schools out there and yet I still hear "I'm nervous 'cause I don't think I'm that good." K, then explain to me how you got in.

I invision this space to be relaxed, cozy, comforting, and most of all welcoming. I see this space as my working studio but open to the public. Pedestrians can come in and buy cheap, quality art supplies and get painting right away inside if they would like. They can set up shop, create their own little piece of art to bring home ready to hang on the walls. There will be a little photo area set up where quality photographs will be taken of their work which then can be turned into prints. A perfect idea for cards, invitations, or to be framed as a gift.

I will sell my work along with other local artists of all kinds. Jewellery makers, musicians, graphic designers, small furniture makers, sculptures. Everything and personally made or handmade.

Music will be playing all the time over the speakers and local musicians can book little gigs and there will be live music every month where everyone can come in, listen to music, look at art and meet new friends.

I see a section of records where people can come in a donate old records, trade, sell, or buy new ones. Access to a record player where people can come in and pick their choice of music to paint to.

This will happen one day. I will open it with my Mum and we will be partners in crime.

Keep your eyes peeled for the coolest little shop in town.... (in the next couple of years...)!!!!

Koons

I came across this article today while skimming through the NY Times. I've been sent a few articles from here in the past and find they carry a lot of interesting articles that can relate to many different people, even us artists. Their Art & Design section is pretty awesome and I recommend you check it out.
I have a problem with the subject of this article. I think it's ridiculous. I think Jeff Koons is ridiculous. Who's the artist? Him? Or his team of multiple dozen assistant who do all his work. Also, how his work sells for multi millions of dollars,  I will never know.

Read this article written by one of his former assistants who didn't have the best of luck.

Aug 23

So here's two pieces that I've had hung in a home for a while now but only now got to documenting them so I though I'd throw them up here. What I'm excited about is the bottom painting. I've been asked to do the wall decor for a few show homes in a new development thats going up in town. It's a great opportunity to get some exposure, and it's also somewhat of a challenge because all the pieces have to match the already places decor in the home. As you can see with a lot of my work, I work with bright colours and lots of loud, bold line. This one I had to dull down quite a bit. It took me a long time, a lot of paint, and a lot of layers to get it right. I think I did. This painting is being hung and is also for sale!

song of my day

I love when a group such a The Glitch Mob takes in down a few notches from their regular hype. This is great. And that voice.

3.8.12

Here's a mix of songs I kinda threw together. The past couple posts are what I've been listening to lately. The listening I can get in besides the gym, at least. The 80's are coming back. Get that disco, synth vibe in ya and save up for that Chevy Camaro.

Electric Blue Heaven

I'm sure you've all seen this by now but it's been a little while since I came across a video that gave me chills, especially in this blistering heat we have going on here in Ottawa. Russian models, crystal blue water, surfing, and one hell of a song combined to give me a little inspiration finally. If this video doesn't sum up the word "free", I'm not sure what does.Globe's Electric Blue Heaven has certainly lived up to its name; a heaven for sure, combining the art of film and sport together to create something incredible. Somebody take me there.

Also a new update..

Here's a new short series I recently finished. Hoping to put these up in a gallery shortly but they are definitely on sale if anyone is interested.

Acrylic and Oil pastel on canvas 36"x50"
Canvas quality is also awesome. I make the bars myself and stretched it all myself. I will also be making frames for these in the next couple days. Contact for more info

Stay tuned for another series within the next couple weeks.
DU Rails and RMS Galleries are starting to team up and create some Du art for all you Du lovers out there.

Not sure what DU is?

We're starting to spread the Du lifestyle through art! Stay tuned!

DIYs

Hey guys,

So I've made a few trips to the art store recently and instead of buying multiple huge overpriced mediocre quality canvasses, I've decided to make my own. With my help of my oh, so handy Father, of course.
These are quality stretcher bars screwed and glued together made by 1x3 clear pine. I'm thinking of starting to sell these for a ton cheaper than you'd find in the stores. Let me know if you're interested!
I also threw in a picture of the brushes I just purchased. In love.

Shitty pictures but you get the idea
I don't even know how big this is. Like five feet by something.
Contact if seriously interested and I'll give you some straight answers.

Cheers.

NEW MUSAAAAAAC its a shorty but sweeeet for the summatime. Love a little. Stick your head out the window for these babies.

Dramalode.

So I promised you guys I'd get back to my ways of writing and just throwing out my thoughts into the virtual world, in some hopes that maybe it will just enter your world and stay there. That way I know my rambling has some substance in someone's life other than to relieve myself of emotional clusterfuck. I have moved to Calgary, finally. I would throw the word successfully in there if it were true. But I don't think the success has come for me yet. Although, ask me in a day or two and I might just change my mind. I still think I'm in this state of confusion and just complete I-don't-fucking-know to really tell what's going on. All this has definitely taught me to remain my own person and never cater to any body else's needs that don't prove they deserve it. Yup, I moved here for someone. Nope, I'm not going to go into it. But just know what you're getting yourself into before you make drastic decisions such as this. I sure thought I did.
People are way more confusing than you think they are. Just when you think that you're probably the most confusing being out there and no one can top your levels (or should I say layers) of emotional madness, someone jumps in and trumps you. It's strange, more overwhelming. Again, it adds to my feeling of just complete and utter chaos. It's weird really, this is the first time I've really had my feelings so unorganized. Rambling like this helps. So thanks for letting me do so.
I HAVE successfully found a job serving so woopdy doo. Maybe now I can actually get back to what this blog is all about - art. Or someone, throw me a frickin canvas. Maybe some paint. I dunno, anything to help a poor pocket.

I do hope to see some art up here within a couple weeks. For all our sakes.

Love and miss my T.O girls. Shoutouts.

Blisssss

So I've been thinking to myself that I've lost my bloggers touch recently and I've been trying to figure out how to get that back. I came up with a new idea. Chapters!
I'm going to start splitting my blog up into sections of my life and document/write about them as time goes by. I think this is a pretty opportune moment to start considering I'm moving to the beautiful west for the summer. Stay tuned for beautiful pictures, art, maybe some DIYs, basically everything and anything I get up to this summer via some sort of art!

On the music front, mmmm ya ill set you up with something soon.

a little something i did over the holiday season for a family friend.

Dave Matthews

long time no post.
Hope the holidays were more than amazing and new years was spectacular. I know mine was!
School is up again and things are busy at school and at home. Between some renos and organizing it's hard to get my hands on this keyboard lately.
BUT,  I went to the Orbit Room last night with a few people to see this jazz band play. It was absolutely incredible so if you ever get the chance to hit it up.. please do. They play every Wednesday Night @ 10:30 and their name is LMT Collection.
I got into talking with someone I had just met about music and our similar interests. Dave Matthews came up and I instantly was reminded of this song and just had to post it. I don't think I've posted it before but even if I have, it's worth a second posting.  When you have time, go through the whole Radio City performance.

Enjoy and have a lovely Thursday!
